How To Clear Run History in Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7

From Windows XP to Windows 10, there is no specific option available in Windows, to clear the Run History alone. There are various methods to hide or clear the run history, but these options also clear the other histories, like Recently Used Programs, File Explorer History and Recently Opened Files.

If your only concern is clearing the Run History alone, then follow these steps:

Press Windows + R key to open Run command, and then type REG EDIT and hit enter. Navigate to the following Registry Key. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENT VERSION\EXPLORER\RUN MRU.

In the right side pane, you will see all the Run History commands that you executed, in separate String Value registry keys.

Select all the keys except Default, and then right-click, and delete all of them. Close the registry editor, and open the Run command again to see the changes. You may require to restart your PC, if Run history is not yet cleared.
