Microsoft Excel Rows and Columns Labeled As Numbers

You may sometime find yourself in a situation, when you open Microsoft Excel, and find out that both Rows and Columns are labeled numerically, even if you have not changed any settings.

There are two types of references style in Excel, A1 and, R1C1. The A1 reference style refers to, A as letters for columns, and 1 as number of rows reference. In R1C1 reference style, both columns and rows are labeled as numbered, which helps to compute rows and columns position in macros. In R1C1 style, R is used followed by a row number, and C is followed by a number is used for columns.

If you love the A1 reference style, and want to switch back, then just click the File menu, and then click Options. From the left side pane, click Formulas, and uncheck R1C1 reference style. That’s it.
