Multitasking with Applications in Windows 8.1

In Windows 8.1, multi tasking has been made easier and you can use more than one app on your screen, at the same time and you don’t have to switch between applications when multitasking.

Go to Start, and open an app. Now drag the app from top of the screen, and then to the right or left side of the screen, until you see a divider.
Open the start again by clicking inside the blank area and open another app.
Now, move the divider between the apps to resize them.

If you want to replace one of these apps with a different app:

  • Open the start by tapping the start key from keyboard, or move your mouse to the lower left corner of the screen and click the Start button.
  • Open another app and it will appear on the top of other two.
  • Now, click on the left or right side pane, to replace one of the app.

You can also open your recent used apps, which you have not closed yet, by moving your mouse to the top left corner, and drag the app from the list of recent used apps.

On some screens, with larger size and resolution, you can open up to 4 apps side by side. To open another app on the same screen, open the app, and drag it until a space appears. You can also change the order of the apps by dragging them to the middle of the screen, and place it where you want.
