How to Pin a Folder Or Drive Icon into Taskbar in Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7

Windows 8.1 Taskbar is not just for apps and documents. You can also place a drive, or your favorite folder icon on the Taskbar. But if you try to drag and drop a drive or folder on your Taskbar, instead of a separate icon, it will be added to your explorer jump list.

So, To Pin a Drive or Folder to Taskbar:

  • Right-click on your Desktop, point to New, and choose Text Document, and name your file “drive.exe”.
  • Then Window will confirm, if you are sure about changing the file extension. Click Yes to confirm the changes.
  • Drag and drop this file to your Taskbar and then delete the original file.
  • Now, right-click on the file icon in the Taskbar and then right-click on file name and choose Properties.
  • Then change the path in Target and Start In to your favorite drive or folder.
  • Click Change Icon button to choose an icon for your new shortcut and apply the changes.

Now, your favorite folder or drive is just a click away.
