In Windows 8.1, Update 1, now you
can use your Taskbar anywhere, either it is your Desktop, the Start Screen, or
any other app. If you do not see the Taskbar, just move your mouse pointer to the
bottom of the screen. Now, if you open any Windows Store app, the app button
also appear on the Taskbar.
In their update news, Microsoft has not
clearly mention that from where in Windows, you can enable or disable this
feature. But if you no longer want to see the taskbar everywhere, then you can
turn this feature off.
To do this:
- Right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar and choose Properties.
- Uncheck the option, “Show Windows Store apps on the Taskbar” and apply the changes.
Now, you will only see
the Taskbar, when you will be on the Desktop.
